WEEE Directive

The EC directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) (SI 2006 no 3289) came into force in the UK on the 1st July 2007.

The broad aim of the WEEE Directive is to address the environmental impacts of electrical and electronic equipment when it reaches the end of its life and to encourage its separate collection, treatment, re-use, recovery, recycling and environmentally sound disposal.

The costs of end of life recycling will be recovered by manufacturers at the time of sale by a specific WEEE charge against each lamp or tube types.

All WEEE Compliant products include a 15p WEEE charge per lamp or tube types levied on us. All products sold have WEEE charge included in final sales price.

At end of product life it is the responsibility of the user to return products to an approved bulk collection point. From that collection point no further recycling charges apply.
